📜 Terms of Use

Last updated: 15 July 2026

The short version

Evie & Theo is a just-for-fun storybook maker, meant for a grown-up to use together with a child. It's our iOS / iPadOS app (the “Service”). The stories and pictures are made by AI, so they're for entertainment, not for accuracy or advice. You're responsible for what you type in. By using the Service, you agree to these terms.

1. Who can use Evie & Theo

You must be an adult (18 or older) to use the Service. It is designed for a grown-up to use together with a child, under the grown-up's supervision — the grown-up runs it, and the story is for the child. It is not intended for children to use on their own. If you let a child sit alongside you, you remain responsible for their experience and for everything entered into the form.

2. What Evie & Theo is

Evie & Theo turns the details you provide into a personalized, AI-written and AI-illustrated storybook that you can read on screen, save to your device, and export as a PDF to print or share. It's meant for fun and family enjoyment.

3. What you type in

You are responsible for the details you enter. Please do not:

  • Enter another person's private or identifying information, or a child's full name, address, photo, or contact details.
  • Submit anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, or not appropriate for a children's story.
  • Try to misuse, manipulate, or "jailbreak" the AI, or use the Service for anything other than making a children's story.

We run an automated safety check on submitted ideas and may decline anything that doesn't fit a wholesome children's story. We may also limit, suspend, or block use that appears abusive or automated.

4. AI-generated content

Stories and illustrations are generated by AI and are provided "as is." They can be inaccurate, inconsistent, or unexpected (an extra arm here, a wobbly smile there), and they are for entertainment only — not medical, legal, educational, or any other kind of professional advice. Please review anything before reading it aloud to a child.

5. The books you create

We don't claim ownership of the stories you make — they're yours to enjoy, download, print, save in the app, and share with your family for personal, non-commercial use. Because the content is AI-generated, its legal status (including copyright) can be uncertain and may depend on the AI providers' own terms, so we can't promise you exclusive rights to it.

6. Subscriptions and purchases

Some features of the Service may require a paid subscription. The current plans and prices are always shown before you buy — in the app and on our App Store page — so what you see at purchase is what applies.

  • Billing. Subscriptions purchased in the app are billed by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see or store your payment details.
  • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime in your device's Settings → your name → Subscriptions; your access continues to the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Free trials. If a plan starts with a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged — otherwise it converts to a paid subscription automatically. A trial is generally available once per person.
  • Refunds. Purchases made through the App Store are refunded (or not) by Apple under Apple's rules — you can ask at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Changes. We may change prices or what a plan includes; changes apply from your next renewal, with notice as Apple's rules require.

7. App Store terms (for the iOS / iPadOS app)

If you use Evie & Theo through our app, a few extra points apply. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules. And, as Apple requires us to spell out:

  • These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for it.
  • If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the app's purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  • Apple isn't responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app — including product-liability claims, claims that the app doesn't meet a legal or regulatory requirement, or consumer-protection claims.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you once you accept them.

8. Availability and changes

We offer Evie & Theo on a best-effort basis and may change, pause, or discontinue any part of it at any time. We can't guarantee the Service will always be available, and the features offered (and whether any part of the Service is free) may change over time.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Evie & Theo and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service or the content it generates. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited by law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the Service means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco, California.
